experience is the best teacher, and this takes time, does anyone ahve
any recommendations on:

to help me get going?

Applications with PHP and MySQL'' which you can obtain from Amazon at

PHP.net really is good, it has references for all the instructions, and the
manual is actually pretty good for beginners.

I had a flip through "PHP In A Nutshell" from O'Reilly Press today
and it looked pretty well-written. And covered a wide range of
topics.

Also, "The PHP Anthology" by Sitepoint Pty is getting pretty good
feedback. You can find it through http://www.sitepoint.com/ and I
think you can buy it through Amazon as well.
