how do I write a utf-8 encoded file?

i'm using fopen() to create an xml file... unfortunately I have utf-8
encoded data in my xmldom object which I'm trying to write to this xml
file. It seems that fopen() only supports ANSI and simple accented
characters are replaced with a ?.

How do I write a utf-8 format file in php?

make sure to open files in binary safe mode. Fopen is certainly not limited
to ASCII text. Provide an exemple of your code so we can help you.
