Adding "<", ">" to a string

Hi to all,

I have a long list of emails in the form address@server.com, recipient's name, and I need to add < at the beginning and end of the address field.

I never worked with file commands before, so I think this can be done with a LOOP and add first < at the beginning of address@server.com, and then another LOOP to do it at the end, as I am not familiar with string concatenations, i am not sure if there is a better way to do it.

The final listing should be like this >>>

"Recipient's Name 1 <email@address1.com>"
,"Recipient's Name 2 <email@address1.com>"

etc

What format is that list, each pair name/email-address in plain text file record or a pair of variables in rows selected from MySql?

However you do it, the easiest way to assign these < and > are just:

$email_address = "<" . $email_address . ">";
