For those of you who think that using XSL/XML to create your HTML output
from a PHP application is not a viable proposition as XSL is a clunky
language, it is too verbose and it cannot get the job done, then I say THINK
AGAIN!
By understanding how XSL works I have taken each of my page layouts,
constructed a library of reusable XSL templates (equivalent to subroutines)
and built a set of generic XSL stylesheets which can be used for many
different screens. For example, I have a web application that contains 300+
screens but it only uses 8 XSL stylesheets. How's that for reusability!
Take a look at http://www.tonymarston.co.uk/xml-xsl/reusable-xsl.html for
details.
