Is there something wrong with PHP5?

I have been looking at web hosting and I notice that most are still
running PHP 4.x. Is there some reason for not upgrading to 5?

Just curious

Thanks

My provider has PHP5 support (next to PHP4 support) for over a year now
and there is nothing wrong with it. Maybe other providers are afraid to
break compatibility?

I am also waiting for my isp to upgrade to PHP5.
It has a great support for XML.

The lack of backward compatibility is a big reason.

The lack of backward compatibility is a big reason.

I have heard that one before. But I never experienced any PHP4 code that
would not run in PHP5. What compatibility problems are there?

I thought that php 4 was upward compatible with php 5? Most software I
have known are compatible that way.

Obvious problems like parse errors if "clone" is used as a method name.

Servers do not upgrade themselves. It takes a lot of work, esp. under
Unix/Linux where you often need to either upgrade the whole OS or break the
distro packaging system.
