Please help PHP Beginner

I really dont know were to start , i need to know what one needs in terms of software requirements. Can one just start programming in PHP from their pc or they need some other server or what.I need a step by step introduction to starting off in PHP.
Can you please send me web adress wer i can get a comprehensive tutorial alternatively.

Yes, you can start programming PHP at your PC. However, you will need PHP and a server on your PC for testing. There are free downloadable packages containing Apache server, PHP and MySQL for Linux (LAMP) and Windows (WAMP).

For WAMP you can download the package from various sites, but try http://www.wampserver.com/en/

As for learning PHP, there are zillions of free tutorials on the web and most of them are good, but I suggest you start with W3 schools http://www.w3schools.com/default.asp
