I installed PEAR on my laptop using the "standard install procedure", using
apache running on my laptop.

If you use for your laptop, i think its better to install a apache, php
and mysql bundled.

I recommended : XAMPP :

Pear is included in above bundle. Its easy to install and maintenance.

Thanks Lorento,

I took your advice and downloaded XAMMP and extracted Pear directory
and put it in my path so I have a lot of Pear now which is what I
wanted. My laptop is running LAMP so my only issue left now is how to
add a package that is not in XAMMP for an offline laptop.

Is there really not a bundled together pear-all.tar.gz somewhere online
?

Hi Paul

I thought the "standard install procedure" require that you are online?
The target laptop is offline and never online so "standard install
procedure" will not work AFAIK but if I am wrong there please correct
me.

Not that I know of. At any rate, there are 375 PEAR packages, and I can't
imagine a situation where you'd want all the packages installed, let alone
one where they were all in use.

The PEAR installer can install offline tarballs, though, so the easiest
thing to do may be to download the packages you do want from the PEAR web
site, copy them to the laptop via whatever method you have available, then
run "pear install <tarball 1> <tarball 2> ..." to install them.
