animated gif

I am a complete idiot and when it comes to PHP code I'm even worse.

Is there something special I need to do to get an animated gif to work
inside some PHP code.

I have substituted an animation for a still picture.

I created an animation and named it the same as the still picture then
uploaded it to the server and overwrote the one in the images directory.

Thanks in advance

What do you mean with work inside some PHP code?

Is it like make an animated gif using GD library?

Or just call image using html tag? I think you just call it at html
tag:

<img src="animated.gif">

That is basicly what I want.

This is in the Simple Machine Forum application.

There is an icon named 'on.gif'. I made an animated icon and also named
it 'on.gif' and uploaded it to the server and overwrote the existing
image file.

You can see it NOT WORKING here:

You may have to register to see everything. If you do, use the word
linux in your display name and I will clean up later.

The fishing reel on the left should be spinning if you have not read the
messages. And not spinning if you have.

Thanks for your reply.
