extension_dir not working

Hi

I'm using PHP 4.3.1 on IIS6 and I'm trying to get GD2 to work ...
I've modified PHP.ini (extension_dir= c:\php\extension + removed the ;)
but the only result is that php refuses to work after that.

I've tried extension_dir = "c:\php\extension" / extension_dir =
'c:\php\extension' / extension_dir = c:\php\extension / extension_dir =
../ extension_dir = "./" / extension_dir = './' and I've even tried
copying the dll to c:\windows\system and c:\windows\system32 but none
of them work ...

Is there anyone who can shed some light on this isue?

cheers!

Do your changes show up in the output from phpinfo(); ??

that's just it, after modifying php.ini i can't even load a php page
....
After i put back the ";" in front of the extension dll, everything
turns back to normal.

I changed to extension path (after putting back the ;), and that does
show up in the output from phpinfo();

the .ini distro was wrong when I got it.
all the DLLs were installed into subdir ext.
extension=ext/php_mysql.dll

was what worked for me.
don't use \ in the path. it will only mess things up.

Unless you've renamed it, the extensions directory on PHP 4.4 is called
"extensions" not "extension".

Same applies to 4.3.
