Running as different user and group

Howdy --
<Rant>
It's a common problem when trying to install apps like this on hosted (virtual
host) sites, that the app wants to run as the Apache user/group. Inlcuding wrx
permissions on various directories.

The problem the web directory are normal user home directories, so the user/group
are the same as the userid.

Which leads the directories bye given "world" read/write/exicute prev. Which
seem to me a major secruity issue.

</Rant>

My question is where and how can I change the userid/group that TikiWiki expect,
starting with the inital DB conncect string.

TIA,
David

Hello, David.

I've been asking the same question on this group and the basic answer I
got is to use "sudO".

Then you have to read the manuals on sudo - which is what I'm doing at
the moment..... :-(

The thread is the one with the subject:

PHP writing to /etc

Good luck.

just a thought, if you httpd server can use sudo for a given commnad, so can
