Counter and statistical checking scripts please?

Jme
Can anyone recommend a counter script to track unique visitors? I want to pu
tit in osCommerce, since their counter is pretty useless, counting each and
every refresh. I want to also check the referring url and any other
statistical data that's useful, like time spent per page.

I also want to write this data to a database, if possible, so script advice
there is greatly appreciated.

No need to post scripts if there's a place online I can find, but details
are appreciated as well (newbie here).

Thanks in advance.

Hey!

here is an easy to use counter-statistics-thingy. Don't know
if it is easily integrated into another script, but it can do
lot's of things and is easy to install.

Thanks, but this service is down, apparently. Also, want to log everything
on my on server.

Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Thanks again.

Thanks. I still need to be able to check each page, and haven't found
anything on awstats that gives me page by page hit details.

Why not use the logging functionalities from your webserver, for apache
you would have to add a line like this for your specific host(s) CustomLog /var/log/apache/access.log combined

This is the most (and only AFAIK) "reliable" method. Couple the logging
with the likes of 'AWStats' (search sorgeforge for it for anyone
interested) and you have a very detailed stats system.. an example of how
it looks:
