getting raw payload when using WebDAV verbs

P: n/a
Is there any way of getting hold of the raw payload for the HTTP
request if the verb is something other than POST (eg the PUT, LOCK etc
WebDAV verbs)?

I've tried setting always_populate_raw_post_data = on in my php.ini
but this has no effect, and I haven't been able to find any solution
in newsgroup postings on google.

The problem is that if I send a POST then I see the XML content in
$_HTTP_RAW_POST_DATA, but if I send a LOCK request, then I can't
currently find the XML payload I've sent anywhere in the PHP
environment.

Does anybody know if there's a way to solve this?
