getting GD 2.0.12 for PHP

I'm trying to get GD 2.0.12, or later, for PHP 4 or PHP 5. When I
download PHP 4.4.0 or 5.0.4 from php.net the bundled GD seems to
be stuck at 2.0.9. I'm a bit surprised by this, since you'd think
PHP would include a later version. So maybe I didn't compile my
PHP right? In any case, any pointers would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

One google for it:

Why do you think so?
If the PHP developmentteam was trying to include the latest greatest all the
time, they wouldn't have time left to test/release a stable version I
expect. :-)

So often a new version is used, one that they know is OK.

Go to boutell, and download the relevant software over there.

Thanks in advance.
