Tattoo simulation using PHP

Hello,

I would like to create an application where the user enters some text
and the text is displayed on a photo of person as a tattoo.

I have already used the "text on image" capability of GD but it doesn't
look real enough.

Does anyone here knows about an exitising applications like the one I
need or can recommend a (free) graphic package that has graphic
manipulations that is needed to create such an effect?

Thanks,

Hanan Cohen

The reason it doesn't look realistic is because you are projecting a
flat tattoo image onto a curved bodypart. Depending on where the tattoo
is intended to go (please, don't tell me, it would only upset me) you
should alter the tattoo image after the basic text has been created.
Doing it rather simplistically, a cylindrical projection would make it
look as if it had been wrapped around - say - a forearm; a spherical
projection would look OK on top of a shoulder, and so on. The
transformations can be found in any online tutorial on 3D graphics
manipulation.

Thanks for your reply.

I am looking for PHP graphic components that can do the 3D manipulation
and image blending that's needed for the text to look real. It should
be done online.

Thanks,
