Unable to load dynamic library 'C:/php/ext/php_mysql.dll'

P: n/a
I keep getting this:
"PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library
'C:\php\ext\php_mysql.dll' - The specified module could not be found."

when I tried to load the php_mysql.dll module when starting my Apache
2.0 in windows XP.

The file, php_mysql.dll is there. why?

Do I have to load this file before I can use "mysql_connect()"?

I did it like that:

....
extension_dir = "c:/php/ext/"
....
;extension=php_mssql.dll
;extension=php_msql.dll
extension=php_mysql.dll
;extension=php_oci8.dll
;extension=php_openssl.dll
....

That didn't work......So why?

Copy the file libmysql.dll to \windows\system32.

I know. It's baffling a lot of people, see google with the right search
words. I think it was a new requirement for php5, undocumented.

Depending on your PHP installation file(s), you may need to specify the option
for MySQL support at installation. I hadn't done it in a Windows environment
before, but in a *nix environment I've had to install MySQL first and get that
running, then install PHP with the MySQL option enabled. Depending what package
you're installing from, you may need to check it's documentation to see how to
do that.

Read:

http://www.php.net/manual/en/install...extensions.php

http://www.php.net/manual/en/faq.ins...tion.addtopath

Do not copy anything to the Windows system directories.
