Comments on "PHP Page Generator"?

Comments on a program called PHP Page Generator? (
http://www.phppagegenerator.com) I received a email offer of $100 and
the product appears to allow quick generation of code for SQL web
searches, reports, etc.

Thanks

Sound very much like a load of crap to me.
Every 1-year experienced coder can come up with those 'features' with one
hand tied behind his/her back.

Or are you a representative of that company, spamming, and getting irritated
by my response now?
In that case I am very sorry. :P

The website just turned me right off. And I infer from your email that
either they are spamming or this is a troll.

There are other products out there - try searching this newsgroup for
entries referencing PHPPeanuts, phpformgen and PfP Studio.

It also appears to be really crappy.

No. I received an email about the product and will start a project
that will require these functions. I guess I can spend $100 to save
me programming time and troubles.
Thanks

Every yellow-colored box in that page, supposedly a testimonial,
screams "I am a lie written by an 8 year old kid trying to sell his
low-quality product!!".

"I feel guilty because this thing is so good my boss thought I've
improved my programming skills". "You actually coded for me the part of
my page the program didn't in under ten minutes". Yeah right.

Hi David,

Ok, good luck.
Please share your experience with the package with us here when you are
finished, ok?

It is always good to hear about firsthand experiences with packages.

Thanks

:) Heheh, not sure whether you are being very kind giving him the
benefit of doubt, or just messing with him.

Somehow I doubt that his, yet to come, experience will differ from the
testimonials displayed at the website. He doesn't seem interested in
alternatives, and despite advice of the contrary he insists that it is
worth a shot.
Of course he might just have been (con)vinced by the exuberant
testimonials.

Hi Bent,

You read my mail excactly as I intended. :-)
I have the same doubts, since he didn't seem interested in the (many)
alternatives and is going to spend money on some obscure package while
nobody in here was encouraging him to do so.
Ok, we will see.
Time will tell. Or not.

The web site made me pause and ask questions! I wonder it did not
state that it could also turn lead into gold!

Hi David,

You seem to be sincere about this.
Sorry if we have been a bit negative and unfriendly.

I think I speak for most of us if I say:
- Sure, go ahead give it a try. It is your money and your time.
and
- The reason we are negative is simply that the package has all
characteristics of bad unneeded software (to us). Most functionality I saw
can easily be programmed by yourself.
and
- We don't understand why you spend money on a package when you have a
choiche of open-sourced available comparable packages.
and
- We don't understand why you ask for our opinion, if you ignore it.
and
- You had the looks of a spammer/plugger of the software in the first
posting. Mosty spammers do not respond as you do. Sorry for any
misjudgements.

So, go ahead, give it a shot. Really.
Nobody was talking down to you, but just to the package. It has all
appearances against (to us).

BUT: I think nobody who responded actually used the package, so again: Go
ahead, try it, and let us know what you think.
Good luck.

Hi there,

I thought I would post a response to this thread since I actually bought the software thinking it would help me create php code faster than just downloading scripts off the internet and modifying them.

Unfortunately I was never able to connect to the database. First it said "Cannot make connection to database, make sure it's running", which it was because I checked it via myphpadmin. Then it said "establishing connection", which it didn't because it never actually read the database.

So, i thought well maybe I'll just setup the local files so I can at least start generating the code. Nope. Got stuck in an infinite loop of cancels because I didn't want to overwrite files I never even chose to edit in the first place, but just happened to be in the folder where the other files that I wanted to use were.

I've filed for a refund from American Express. In the future I will not act in haste and will find other alternatives, as you recommended.

I hope this helps others who are looking for answers. The only reason I found this board is because I couldn't get any support from the company. Their support email address: support@oursiteoffice.com bounces. So I was looking for alternative "help".

- phlux :(
