REST by design is stateless
<http://www.answers.com/Representational%20State%20Transfer>. I have
also read that session is irrelevant as every message uses HTTP
Authenication <http://www.prescod.net/rest/mistakes/>; but I never seen
use of HTTP Authentication in implemented systems like Flickr.
Then, I have also seen authentication/login in Flickr,
<http://fisheye.cenqua.com/api/>, etc.
Use of cookies and session doesn't seem to be RESTful. I personally
think, <http://fisheye.cenqua.com/api/> is the right direction; but I
think, it could be improved with challenge strings and hashes, instead
of direct passwords. I would like to know, other PHP programmers'
comments too. In short, the question is: What's the best way to
maintain session in REST (in PHP)? TIA.
