PHP vs other scripting languages (performance)

Hi all,

I am a completely newbie in server-side scripting language. Just
wondering how well PHP is when it compares with other scripting
languages. Is there any benchmark or performance chart?

Thanks,
Tim :-)

If you're interested in performance you should probably be coding in any
compiled language such as C. The key feature of PHP is its power and
simplicity. It's very simple to learn, it's easy to code, it's free as in
"free beer" and "free speach" and it combines well with HTML and you have
libraries for almost every task you can think of.

You should read the benchmarking threads in comp.lang.ruby.

Alioth is regarded as very poor and mis-informative. Read the thread to
understand why.

Did you notice the thread had been re-named
Re: python/ruby benchmark(don't shoot the messenger)

Also see the related threads
