converting dynamic php pages into static

P: n/a
I have a problem. I have a php/mysql site that generates pages
dynamically (duh) like
http://www.mysite.com/page.php?id=wh...hatever....and so on.

I would like to know if there is a way to visit that page by using an
easier to remember URL. For example:

http://www.mysite.com/page.php?id=wh...&name=whatever
becomes
www.mysite.com/page1

I realize that I could write a script that redirects to each dynamic
page, but Im looking for other options.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Rob

If you're using an Apache webserver, then have a look at mod_rewrite.
