Using COM objects with WINE, PHP or Mono on Linux?

Does anyone know if is possibly or could be possible to use COM objects
on Linux systems without having to connect to a Windows machine? I do
not know how COM objects work, so I do not know. I thought it might be
possible to use them with WINE and PHP. Does anyone know if this
something I should look into, or should I just give up investigating
it?

Thanks,

d.spohn

Creating a COM object usually involves loading a DLL, I seriously doubt
would work independence of a Win32 executable.
