need help with timeout script

I want to be able to close a main window after a certain time

Can I do this in PHP or do I have to use JavaScript?

Hi!

The thing you want to do is CLIENT-SIDE!!! No php there! :)
You can (as you already know) redirect the user using HEADER only.

As madmaster said, this is client side. A simple script to close the
window as soon as it opens:

<script type="text/javascript" language="javascript">
<!--
window.close();
//-->
</script>

Of course, there are plenty of time functions in js to control when
that happens.
