.htaccess technical questions

Hello all,

I'm very new to all this so please bear with the newbie questions

I have a blog which gets a lot of referrer spam.

I'd like to find a way to use .htaccess to block them by referrer name.

I'd also be able to use .htaccess to reroute from specific IPs, either
the whole IP or just the first part, such as
66.96.62.4 or 80. or 134.75.
to a custom error page which will say "If you are a legitimate reader
of my site, please e-mail me at...."

I've seen lots of stuff out there about .htaccess but almost all of
them seem to take down my site!

Thanks much,
Ross
