MAX_FILE_SIZE

Until now, the MAX_FILE_SIZE directive wasn't taken when uploading files.

Since 2-3 days, the browser (IE6) doesn't seem to send files bigger than
MAX_FILE_SIZE.

The limited action seems to be browser side, as if the file are bigger than
the limit, they aren't sent at all.

I'd like to know if it's really what appens, and how to know the from PHP
that the file was too large, and inform the user the file hasn't been sent
because of size ?

There are two errors relating to file size: (1) the file
exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive, and (2) the file
exceeds the MAX_FILE_SIZE hidden form field. For either to
occur, the file must be uploaded.

http://www.php.net/manual/en/feature...oad.errors.php

If a browser decides not to upload a file because it exceeds
MAX_FILE_SIZE, I should hope it informs the user somehow. I
don't see how you can tell with PHP why it wasn't sent.

Couldn't be a fix from M$ ? as this should by a "client side" limit, maybe
M$ did put a check for not sending large files. This limit is taken since 4
days now, and about at the same time, I've had a "fix" from M$ (but didn't
get any detail for the update).

Just trying to understand.

Could be.

I still think a browser should give a warning if it decides
not to submit a file because it is larger than the value of
MAX_FILE_SIZE. It might be worth consulting an IE
newsgroup.
