MySQL 4.1 authorization problem

Hello!

I tried to connect my script with MySQL 4.1 database and everything is Ok if
a user have no password.
When I connect to db by user with not null password, i got following error
message:

----------
Client does not support authentication protocol requested by server.
Consider upgrading MySQL client
----------

I check this with php 4.2.3 and 4.3.2.

Any ideas?
