Installing GD as no-root...?

Hi all,

I wonder if anyone of you could help me with the following problem. Our
website, hosted on a server where we have no root-access, needs the GD
library, but unfortunately the server is running an old version of PHP
(4.1.2).

I was wondering if there is any way for us to install GD in our own home
directory and use it somehow in that way. Is there a possibility to
install libraries as non-root for PHP?

Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,
Yereth
