Simple question: query string variable and more

P: n/a
Hi, newbie question ahead:

suppose i have two html-formatted documents with appropriately coded <?php ?> areas.

a typical query is this: file.php?call=123.html

in 123.html i define a variable $doctitle

How can I display $doctitle in file.php (an html-formatted file as well)

Thanks!

At first, make sure your http server will execute the php code in the
file 123._html_

Second, how do you call the file 123.html from file.php? If via
include(), the variable $doctitle should be accessible from the calling
file.php

I'm calling it by require(). The problem here is that it also dumps
the entire contents of 123.html when I do that. I think I had the same
problem with include, but I don't recall exactly. After I call it (by
either), I was able to access $doctitle, but I couldn't find any other
way to call $doctitle without dumping the whole contents of 123.html
into my page.
