This ASP widget will automatically scan remote web sites for certain kinds of content using a screen scraping component and simple pattern matching. The widget will generate reports about what it found and where. Ideally, I would like the widget to follow all of the http:// links on the remote page for one level, and scan the child pages for certain kinds of...

I'm new to this list, so I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this. If not, please direct me to where it would be better to post it. Anyway, I'm creating a report generation tool of sorts in PHP for a database. As part of this report generation tool, I'd like to allow the user to reorder these results arbitrarily. In other words: id | offer ---+------------ 1 | Offer 1

I am in search of a comprehensive methodology of using these two object cleanup approaches to get rid of a number of bugs, unpleasantries, and cleanup-ordering issues we currently have in our 4-month old C#/MC++ .NET project project. I'd like to thank in advance anyone who takes the time to read and/or respond to this message. At a couple points, it may seem like a rant against C# / .NET, but we are pretty firmly stuck with this approach...

NOTE: the following has been posted in microsoft.public.vb.general.discussion and they have recommended I also post here. Let me apologize up front about the length of this post, but I want to get opinions and I need to provide some background... In the 90's, I worked as an independent contractor and designed a set of customized quote generation programs (4 total, one for each product line) for a client in VB4.0 16 bit using Access...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
