formmail.cgi and entering an email address?

Hello,

I am using the formmail.cgi script and wonder if it is possible to
have the user enter their email address and then have the results sent
to this address by formmail.cgi?

If yes, how do I do this?! That is, how do I get the user to enter
their email address and how is it transferred to formmail.cgi?

Cheers,

Geoff

Which formmail.cgi script? There is reputably a good one here (two
versions, actually):

<http://nms-cgi.sourceforge.net/scripts.shtml>

Matt Wright's original formmail.cgi
(<http://www.scriptarchive.com/faq/formmail.html#q2>) is said to have
security problems, and its use is discouraged.

So make sure you are starting with a good scriptl

If you wish to add a field, add the HTML to the page form so the user
can type in his/her email address and add the code to the script to
fetch the address and add it to the recipient list.

FYI: this newsgroup is defunct. Try comp.lang.perl.misc in the future
for better response.

You're just asking for spammers to use your server to send spam to
email addresses of their choosing. Many instances of formmail.cgi
had to be shut down because things like that. Don't do it.
