New To perl programming

I am learning Perl programming.
I need to learn Perl programmimg for following pupose in my project :

My project is having Sybase databse on Unix box.
I need to get data from database from windows client machine and show data in MS -Excel

I need to get data in .txt file from Sybase database and then bind data in text file to Ms-Excel.

Please suggest from where i can get code for this.......
I need how to get data from Sybase and write in .txt file as comma seprated data.
And then read data from Ms Excel programming.
I want to learn more on Perl databse programming for above purpose.
How ic an execute perl script from MS-Excel program?


Please suggest

Go through following modules in CPAN:
1.DBD::Sybase
2. Win32::OLE
3. Spreadsheet::Writeexcel

Referring them would provide you the base to start with.

Hey cool,

thanx for your prompt reply........

I am more intrested in Writing Data from Sybase in .txt files from windows client where Excel / VBA / .NET Excel programming will read this data from .txt files and then show the reports to the End user.

Just to call Perl Scripts from My VBA/Excel/.NET program and then Push the data in .txt files and then rest VBA / .NET excel programming i am expert.

Main hurdle now is only to write the data in .txt file and call that script from windows client on network from Unix box.(I guess CGI will come in picture in this case)

I am from Microsoft technology technology background ..not much familier with perl.
