Do you have a question? So far you have laid out your plans. Why not show us the code you have been working on and tell us what problem you are having and ask your question(s).

Jeff

Thank you for sharing that information with us.

I currently have to write a script that parses a strangely formatted text file, loads it into a hash, and display in an HTML document. Should be pretty straight forward to do once I figure out the best way to parse the text document.

I am also waiting to hear back from a person that wanted me to write a script that connected via a socket to a website and packed/unpacked some data and sends it back to the server, something for a game I think, not sure. Not even sure I can do it, need more info from the fellow.

A client also reports too much spam getting sent to her domain, wants me to look into cutting down on the spam, I'll probably just fiddle around with the spam assasin settings and see if it helps. Should be real easy money. Cha-ching!

I'm also still working on another installment of my "Sorting Data with Perl" articles. It's pretty much done but I want to make sure it's all correct before posting, but it's low priority, I'll get to it when I feel like it.

Ahh.... nice to have someone to talk about these things with.

Well, unless you actually share your code with us, we will be unable to assist you. Please be sure and enclose the code in the necessary code tags as described in this forums sticky thread.

As far as cgi goes, you should really read a tutorial on it to get the idea of how to code for it. Here is a tutorial to get you started.

My suggestion is that you learn the basics of Perl as well. Unless you know many of the basics, you are going to have a rough time with everything else. You should really pick up the O'Reilly book "Learning Perl". It will give you a good grounding in Perl and enable you to better understand the language.

Jeff

Ohh... I thought you were just sharing your current project with us. I didn't realize you wanted help. My bad.
