[CGI] Securely Open Remote SSL Connection to Customer

My situation is this. There is a remote server that requires authentication to access a file name that i sell and give them expiring link.

Auth link
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1. http://user:pass@s234.whatevasite.com:80/filename.exe
But doing some hacking prevention found that with a tool such as Tamper Data from Firefox I can look at the headers as the pass by and therefor be able to look at the Auth link which no one is suppose to be able to see or else my business is ruinned!

The Auth Link example is the only way of accessing the files. Im currently using a CGI that does a redirect "Location: $down_load\n\n" through header but as I said its not secure at all, is there a better way?

My script is not running under SSL only the remote server.
