problem putting a process into background in windows

Hi,
I am writing a perl script to make a process run in the background. When i use system(<cmd> <arguments> &), it takes & also as another invalid argument. Is there any other way to do it.
Ieven tried the Proc::Background perl module. But it gives me the error- Win32 does not define - version check failed at D:/Perl/lib/Cwd.pm line 643
BEGIN Failed-- compilation aborted.

Any help plz

My only suggestion is search through the Win32 class of modules. Heres the list that CPAN has:
