Help with a Perl 5.8.4 Make Error Message

I am pretty new to building and installing Perl. Can someone help
explain the severity of the following Perl 5.8.4 build error message?

Making threads::shared (dynamic)
make[1]: Entering directory
Makefile out-of-date with respect to ../../../lib/Config.pm
Cleaning current config before rebuilding Makefile...
make -f Makefile.old clean > /dev/null 2>&1 || /bin/sh -c true
.../../../miniperl "-I../../../lib" "-I../../../lib" Makefile.PL
"INSTALLDIRS=perl" "PERL_CORE=1" "LIBPERL_A=libperl.so"
Writing Makefile for threads::shared

==> Please rerun the make command. <==
make[1]: *** [Makefile] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory
make config failed, continuing anyway...
