threads.pm issue

1 New Member
Hi,
I had these errors when i executed an application. Can someone assist?
thanks.

bash-3.00# pandora_server
/usr/local/bin/pandora_server line 33:

This Perl hasn't been configured and built properly for the threads
module to work. (The 'useithreads' configuration option hasn't been used.)

Having threads support requires all of Perl and all of the XS modules in
the Perl installation to be rebuilt, it is not just a question of adding
the threads module. (In other words, threaded and non-threaded Perls
are binary incompatible.)

If you want to the use the threads module, please contact the people
who built your Perl.

Cannot continue, aborting.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/local/lib/perl5/5.8.8/sun4-solaris/threads.pm line 28.
Compilation failed in require at /usr/local/bin/pandora_server line 33.
BEGIN failed--compilation aborted at /usr/local/bin/pandora_server line 33.

Did you read the entire error? It looks like your script is trying to use the threads module, but aside from that, threads support was not built into your Perl distribution when installed. If you have a sys admin who manages this machine, then I would talk to them.

Regards,

Jeff

Hi, I'm running into a slight programming issue here that I am hoping someone can help me with. I am developping a web-based PHP application, which means I have to consider multiple threads of the same PHP script running at the same time. Here is my problem. I have 2 database tables Table A and Table B. Table A contains a counter...

Does anyone know the scope of the socket.setdefaulttimeout call? Is it a cross-process/system setting or does it stay local in the application in which it is called? I've been testing this and it seems to stay in the application scope, but the paranoid side of me thinks I may be missing something... any confirmation would be helpful.

Hello, I have an application that processes thousands of files each day. The filenames and various related file information is retrieved, related filenames are associate and placed in a linked list within a single object, which is then placed on a stack(This cuts down thread creation and deletions roughly by a factor of 4). I create up to...

I was noticing that when I run a multi-threaded app from within the IDE and then I close the main form (which spun off all of the threads), that the Stop/Pause VCR buttons in the debugger are still available & working. It's like closing the form did not actually cancel the threads. From my earlier discussions on the newsgroup, I know how...

I have a very multi-threaded Windows Forms application. There are many BeginInvoke calls, as well as Thread/ThreadStarts. My issue is that when I quit my application there are often threads hanging around that prevent the process from dying. I've gone through my code line by line looking for orphaned threads, but I'm unable to figure out...

Hi all, I'm designing a fairly simple service that will run on W2K/SP4 and W2K3 servers. It's job is to be a very specialized database server that listens on a given IP address / TCP port and handles multiple connections. Client programs will make a connection and pass text strings to the service, which will then return a value for each of...

"Instead of just waiting for its time slice to expire, a thread can block each time it initiates a time-consuming activity in another thread until the activity finishes. This is better than spinning in a polling loop waiting for completion because it allows other threads to run sooner than they would if the system had to rely solely on...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
