perl -MCPAN -e shell reconfigure

I'm having some problems with installing modules with the MCPAN shell.
When I first ran it I let it auto configure and now I cannot install
anything. Is there a way I can force it to run the configure script again??

Thankx...

I've installed perl 5.8.0 on my FreeBSD 4.8. The installation ran smoothly and without any problems. After I've tried to upgrade CPAN from shell (cpan> install Bundle::CPAN) as it was suggested I've stumbled upon Segmentation fault and core dump. Now, everytime I try to install something through the CPAN shell, I get the same error. I can't even reload indexes... Anyone has a solution to this problem? ------------ $ perl -MCPAN -e shell

Hi. I am running MacOS X 10.3.1 (Panther) on a G4 iMac. I am installing some Perl modules using the CPAN shell, i.e., I issue the command # perl -MCPAN -e shell and then type commands to the cpan> prompt. When I have done this on a Linux box, the .cpan directory is placed in root's home directory /root, and the manified documentation goes into /usr/share/man/man3. To me, this seems pretty reasonable.

I need to install perl modules on some new servers that use an FTP proxy server. To manually FTP to a remote host, you need to use your active directory (ntid) in conjunction with the remote hosts user name and password like this: Username: remoteusername@ntid@remotehost Password: remotepassword@ntpassword

I have set a password for the mysql root user so when I do this: shell> perl -MCPAN -e shell cpan> install DBI cpan> install DBD::mysql install DBD::mysql fails Is there a way I can run install DBD::mysql and supply the password as a parameter - or get it to prompt me for it? Otherwise anyone know how I can remove the password temporarily for the root user in mysql?Angus

**NOTE: This article is written using the 5.8.8 Alpha2 release of Strawberry Perl. I am writing this article with much joy and glee. This is due to the fact that Active State no longer has a monopoly on the issue of Perl on the Windows platform As anyone who code's Perl on the Windows platform knows, the choice that you have (had) for Perl on Windows was Active State. It worked great for your scripting but when it came to installing...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
