How to represent HEX in Oracle?

With regular decimal numbers you can just write them in. With hexadecimal I tried using 0x### but it didn't help.

Here's how i'm temporarily doing it:

nvl(flags,dec2hex(0))
 

flags field is a RAW data type.

silly right? Just to get a hex number?

There's got a better way. Care to share?

are you storing the hex number (this is a string) or for display only ?

I have a raw data byte that I need to set/unset and check if it's set. It's 1 byte in length.

anyway. The answer is just put it in a string e.g. '0F'. That's it. It works for me but oracle should still have /something/

56 in hex is different than 56 decimal. I bet you putting '56' will make oracle treat it like an integer.
