Installing on Mac Os

I tried to install 10g onto a MacMini for development environment but it
wont install. I changed kernal settings, added groups and users, set env
etc like in install instructions but when i runInstaller it gives error:

I click on "Next" button in installer welcome page and get dialog saying

Abnormal program termination...blah blah..contact support:

The java process stays alive but does not appear to be doing anything in
the activity monitor..
