MSCOMMLIB * - how to send & receive data via COMM PORT

I imported OLE library interface MSCOMM32.ocx for communicating with
SERIAL PORTS. Now 5 Program units generated in my Object navigator.
Now I don't know what to do.
I'm trying to call some procedures (for example "portopen") from
existing program units but I get message
*** identifier "portopen" must be declared. ***

Can anyone tell me what to do ?
I just want to read some data from external device and put it into
item in form?
