Specifically the answer will be found in the SQL Reference manual. But
it will make a lot more sense if you read the Concepts manual (IIRC,
chapter 25) first.

Also check the archives for the comp.database.oracle.* newsgroups, as
this exact question was asked (and answered) in the past 3 weeks.
