Oracle has changed the name of its communication software numerous
times. When I started administering Oracle (about 15 years ago), it
was called SQL*NET, it then went to NET8 and then Oracle Net. I think
I missed a name or two in there too, I still have a bad habit of
calling it SQL*NET myself. Just diff't names for Oracle's
communication software over the years.

Axel, Oracle has several volumes on the ORANET (NET8, SQLNET) service.
On version 9 look for the Net Services Administrator's Guide and Net
Services Reference Guide.

When a newsgroup has sub-groups you should should generally post to
the sub-groups and not the group.
