for anyone interested, I've just successfully installed Oracle 9iR2
(9.2.0.4.0) on Linux Slackware 9.0 (gcc-3.2.2, kernel 2.4.20).
Actually, the installation of base release 9.2.0.1.0 produced some
relink errors, fully resolved by patchset 9.2.0.4.0.

you choose "Enterprise Edition"?
Yes Dave, Enterprise Edition, without creating the demo database.
ORACLE_HOME takes approx. 2.3 Gb

Enterprise Edition, without creating a demo database (I created a
custom one by scripts).
The Oracle software takes approx. 2.3 Gb under the ORACLE_HOME

On Solaris the package requires 2.4GB for the code and 1.3GB for the demo

Thank you so much for this thread, I've got that Oracle version also, & I'm having second thoughts on installing it on Slackware 8. I've seen this tutorial http://www.zejack.com/article/oracle...cle_9.0.1.html
Should I just follow the same steps on installing it on Slackware 9?
