RAID

Hi,

We are planning to host our database on Linux. Can any one share
experiences on the following aspects:

1. Is RAID5 better or RAID 0 or 1 better ? (we have thosuands of
queries running per day)
2. Is hardware disk controller better or LVM better?
3. any particular machine configuration to consider
Thanks for sharing the knowledge.

Please............................................ ........................
Not AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1 Raid 5 is inferior for any writes, and you shouldn't have your
online redologs on RAID 5
2 It depends. Software RAID will be slower, but you are more flexible
with respect to actual disk configuration
3 We don't market hardware here.

There is no way to answer your questions without information of how
you plan use your database (i.e. read/write ration, DB size and so
on).
