Whenever OSError Exit gives error, O/s Message : No such file or directory

1
Hi all,

I have a problem, i am running a batch file which will connect to oracle database via sqlplus.

If i set whenever Oserror Exit and then try to connect it fails with the error message 'o/s no such file or directory'

if i dont set , i am able to connect.

Why does setting Whenever osError Exit create a problem

C:\ Sqlplus /nolog
Sql> Whenever OsError Exit 20
Sql> Connect sampleId/SamplePwd
O/s Message : No such file or directory

C:\sqlplus /nolog
sql>Connect sampleid/samplepwd
Connected.

Since it is a long script with a lot of file writing options , i cannot aviod having whenever oserror clause.

can anyone help me out please.?

1) The same script was running fine in oracle 8.1 windows 2000 server
2) Not able to run in the migrated oracle 9.2 Windows 2000 server

i dont have that much knowledge in oracle but can dig down with any of your help.

Thanks for the help

Lingo/.
