my application server stopped automatically....

Helllloooooooooooooooooo friends........
I face a problem right now which is to be solved immediately........
Our application sever - Oracle9i runs on SUN Solaris.
And the database server is Oracle9i.
The application server automatically stopped..
And our scripts on the fly detects it and up the system again..
As a result the all settings - session,application attributes fallen down...
So there is no way to get back them .............
If any solution plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz help me out.....................
one more question to ask that ... if i requests a server suppose at 5 seconds interval then wil the performance be slow or not.
