migration from Oracle 8i to 9i

Hi,
I need to migrate an application from Oracle 8i to 9i.
Currently the server is communicating with the MQ through Oracle gateway.
This oracle gateway is configured using Visual workbench.
Can any one please let me know whether i need to change any of the configuration code for both the gateway and the workbench when i migrate it to Oracle 9i.
Please provide me with any link to help me understand about Oracle gateway and visual workbench.Im new to the workbench and Oracle gateway.

Thanks in advance for the help!
