oracle 8i not functioning on XP

Hi there,

I am trying to install Oracle 8i on Windows XP , But initially its installing successfully and prompting me to SQL > prompt. However when i finished working on it, i have loged out . Since the next time i was trying to login its not working. It happened twice , then immediately i uninstalled the oracle application and reformated the drive and installed again. its the same problem .

Why does not Oracle 8i install successfully on XP . How can i resolve this problem

Thanks MICH

These seem a tedious task to go through the whole process. However, its easy to install on win ME or 2000. One can not run the Oracle services manually every time they use oracle . !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
