Veritas Tape Backup Lost Password

We are in need of restoring critical information to a server hard drive (raid -4) using our Veritas tape backup. Our new IT director is unaware how to open the password-protected tape as the former IT director did not leave the p/w behind. What can I do to access the data on this backup tape? I believe it is the version available and purchased during or around 2000.

I would go to the vendor. If you have a current license agreement with them, they should be able to help you. However, breaking a password-locked file is not something I am allowed to do based on the guidelines of this site.
