A problem in select system call

Hi,
Select system call is hanging on a particular scenario, i know that problem could be none of the attached descriptor is not become active for read, write and exception. But i strongly feel there is something happened, so that the channel has been broken. So can any one help that, how can i find out broken channel.

I tried with "netstat","lsof" but i was not able to derive any kind of conclusion.

Regards,
Arul
