What is the difference between disabling a port on a switch and removing the cable from the port on the switch (suppose I am working on the same port)?

If you disable the port, you do so on the management console, and don't need physical access to the device, wheras you do to physically pull the cable.

Hi ,
Disable is something that is done by admin remotely/localy using console access. once someone disables a port, nobody can use it until enabled.

Normaly removing the cable is not a good idea , becuase if admin removes the cable, it is not a big issue, anyone can go and reconnect the cable then it will start work for us. i think this may be usefull for you..
