Vista sees XP machine in network map, but cant connect...

2
So, Ive got this one business client that's got about 10 Windows XP machines on a network, and added a Windows Vista machine to the mix. The network is a mix of wireless and wired computers on a wireless router connected with a switch. The "server" is wired, and this vista machine is on a wireless usb dongle.

There's one XP machine that acts as a simple file sharing server, and at first the Vista machine wouldnt see it, but I could ping the XP machine. Discovered the need to install the LLTD responder patch on the XP machine and did that. Now, the XP machine shows up in the network map, but I cannot click on it, like I can the other machines, and it wont show up in the Network Neighborhood, where the other machines are. Some form of Norton exists on the Vista box (expired), so I disabled it, but still nothing. All of the sharing settings on the Vista machine are turned on.

Am I missing something? It should clearly work and I cannot figure it out.

Oh yeah, I forgot to add, trying to use windows explorer to directly access the server machine either via the machine name or the ip address gives an error that it cannot find the machine, or something along those lines.. (I forget the exact error)

Exactly the question that I need answered. Basically same scenario, multiple computers, all xp + 1 vista. Everything connects except the Vista PC and the one XP computer. Patches installed. It shows up in the network map, but just can't connect. It works in reverse though, the XP computer can browse the Vista one no problem.

Did you find your solution? Or does anyone have any further input on known problems? Thanks in advance.

Have you checked the firewall setting, disable the firewall and try to connect see if that help. if those then find and ports and open them in the firewall of the vista machine.
